Warm Springs - Where to Stay

There are many excellent choices for lodging to complement your relaxing stay in Warm Springs, Virginia. Both kids and adults will love staying at Anastasia's Cottage, a renovated log cabin perfect for pretending to be frontiersmen (although with important aspects of modernity!) The 1,650 square foot cabin has two large bedrooms that include a single bed and two queen beds, a fully-equipped kitchen, two queen-size pull out couches, a living room with fireplace, screened-in porch, and two and a half bathrooms. For extra comfort and hominess, the cabin offers guests a washer and dryer, an outdoor gas grill, cable TV and VCR, radio, and linens. Anastasia's Cottage is charming from the outside as well as the inside; tucked into green grass and trees, the wood and stone front and stone chimney immediately invite guests to slip into another world, far away from city life.

Another option for a private retreat in Warm Springs, Virginia is the Bolar Run Hideaway, comprised of two log cabins tucked away in the Alleghany Mountains. The two traditional wood cabins are all wood, inside and out, with gas fireplaces. The Maple Cabin offers an "English country" décor throughout its two bedrooms (one with queen bed and one with a full bed), full kitchen, and both sitting and eating areas. The Spruce Cabin offers a more "Colorado lodge" décor in its master bedroom with queen bed, second bedroom with full bed, two bathrooms, full kitchen, living room, and dining room.

If you aren't ready for complete seclusion, the Anderson Cottage Bed and Breakfast enables guests to stay in one of three guestrooms in one of the county's oldest buildings, built in 1790. Since its origination in 1790, the home has been a tavern, a girls' school, and a summer inn! The Anderson Cottage has the "kitchen cottage" separate from the main building, which the owners state is great for allowing young families and smaller groups privacy. Guests are invited to relax in the Anderson Cottage's common rooms, which include formal parlors decorated with family heirlooms, a dining room with a blazing fireplace, and porches surrounding the inn. On rainy days, guests can browse through the inn's huge library and play board games. On nicer days, guests can be seen playing badminton and croquet in the beautiful lawns surrounding the inn.

In nearby Hot Springs, Virginia, horse lovers will adore Apple Horse Farm, which entreats guests to bring their "largest" family members along with them to stay either out in open air or in the property's nine stall barn. Apple Horse Farm offers riders a vast amount of terrain to cover, ranging from mountain trails to pastures to forest trails, and natural beauty amongst all of them. Many riders come back with tales of turkey sightings, baby calves, and other encounters with Mother Nature.

Of course, you don't have to bring your horse to stay at Apple Horse Farm. A private, two bedroom cottage painted an adorable shade of yellow and complete with two stories of wrap around porches is available to rent for a weekend or longer. Inside, guests will find the comfort of a full kitchen, breakfast corner, bathroom, living room with wood stove, and two comfortable bedrooms, each with queen size beds. The cottage is clean and comfortably country styled. What may be the most spectacular about the cottage are the views of the 1,300 acres the guests' disposal. Mountain, pasture, and other scenery views from the house high up in elevation have convinced many guests to stay a bit longer. If getting outside and walking, hiking, or riding through the many trails and fields and coming home to watch the sunset from the porch or read a book sounds like your kind of vacation, you will definitely love Apple Horse Farm.

For a more formal lodging option, the King's Victorian Inn in Hot Springs, Virginia, offers a romantic, Victorian home built in 1899. In 1923, the home became a variety of other things, including a restaurant, barber shop, rooming house, and more. In 1987, the current owners restored the home and turned it into a gorgeous bed and breakfast. Inside the large, turreted main house, there are six beautiful rooms, decorated with antique furnishings, mahogany poster beds, and nice private bathrooms. The King's Victorian Inn also offers guests private lodging in The Honeymoon Cottage, detached from the main house, with two rooms, deck, living area, bathroom, and small kitchen. The Boxwood Cottage is fit for a larger family, with four comfortable bedrooms and two baths, sun porch, living room, dining room, foyer, kitchen, and beautiful hardwood floors throughout. Inside the main house, guests are invited to relax in the many common areas and beautiful dining room.
